Colourful Bouncy Snake
Could your playgroup do with some brightening up? These colourful snakes are really fun and look fantastic hanging up together.
What you need:
- Paper plate
- String
- Paint
- Sponges/paint brushes
- Felt tip pen
Set up a craft table with colourful paint and some sponges or brushes. If you are exploring a particular colour at playgroup only put out that colour (you could have lots of different shades of pink or blue). Give each child a paper plate and let them decorate it to their hearts content.
Once their master piece is finished put it somewhere safe to dry completely. When dry cut a spiral through the paper plate to create a snake like shape (the centre of the plate becomes the head). Let the kids draw on some eyes and a mouth. Next, make a small hole in the top of the snakes head and thread through some string to hang.
Extension Idea: Talk to your child about colours as they paint, “shall we paint a red dot next?”, “Do you want to use the blue paint?”. If the colours mix when they are painting talk about the new colour that they made.
